Gerringong Museum
Situated in Blackwood Street, Gerringong.
The opening hours of the museum are Saturday and Sunday 1-4pm, with additional openings on Tuesdays and Thursdays (same hours) during NSW school holidays.
Reference items are available for consultation, including Gerringong Pioneer Family Index and Gerringong Landholders Returns 1885.
A computer is now available in the Museum, providing access to a full database of Pioneer Family descendants, and also Birth, Death and Marriage records relating to the Gerringong area, and to areas such as the Richmond River which have a strong connection to Gerringong Pioneer Families.

The museum is managed by a voluntary Community Trust in conjunction with the Kangaroo Valley Historical Society. Preserving Kangaroo Valley history with buildings, machinery, memorabilia and photographic display.
Nowra Museum
Corner of Plunkett and Kinghorne Streets Nowra.
Administered by the Shoalhaven Historical Society, and their members are willing to assist community groups on matters of historical significance, and are always keen to gain additional information.
The Nowra Museum was built as the local police station in 1900, it had this purpose until the mid 1970’s, by which time it had well outgrown the station staff.
The museum is open from 1 until 4 pm each Saturday and Sunday, and during school holiday periods, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the same times.
Meroogal is a must whilst visiting Nowra. Built in 1885, this fascinating timber house was home to four generations of women from the Thorburn family.
Meroogal’s rich collection of personal objects provides an insight into the private lives and daily world of this family for nearly a century.

The museum’s exhibits include snakes, spiders, aboriginal artefacts, minerals, local marine life and shells with a number of historical furnished rooms on display.
